An investment project for electricity generation by burning solid household waste will be implemented in the Khorezm region of Uzbekistan. The corresponding resolution No. PQ-328 was signed by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on September 14, 2026. The investor of the project is the South Korean Green Hammer Co., Ltd., and a separate foreign enterprise has been established for its implementation.
The project company will receive a guaranteed sale of the generated electricity: JSC "Uzenergosotish" undertakes to purchase it for 30 years and pay for supplies in national currency. To connect the power plant to the energy system, the company will build the necessary power lines and other infrastructure. After the completion of construction, these facilities will be transferred to JSC "National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan".
Before the plant is launched, a technical conclusion on its impact on the country's energy system will be prepared. The document will be jointly developed by the project company, the National Dispatch Center, and "National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan", after which the final connection conditions will be determined. Solid household waste for the plant's operation will also be guaranteed for supply for 30 years. For the construction period, the project company will provide a bank guarantee for $7 million.
