Uzbekistan and ADB to Expand Cooperation in Digital Transformation

Focus on artificial intelligence, innovative infrastructure, personnel training, and turning the country into a regional technology hub

Uzbekistan and the Asian Development Bank have agreed to expand cooperation in digital transformation, innovation, and the implementation of advanced technologies. The corresponding agreements were reached at a meeting between the Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov and the Director of the ADB Resident Mission in Uzbekistan, Kanokpan Lao-Araya. The parties discussed the digitalization of various economic sectors and the development of the country's technological potential.

Particular attention was paid to innovative infrastructure and international experience exchange. In particular, the parties considered the possibility of establishing a liaison office in South Korea, which will enable the training of civil servants, the exchange of practices, and the study of advanced foreign solutions. The ADB also plans to expand systemic support for improving the qualifications of officials and strengthening state institutions involved in digital projects.

Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to continue joint work on digital initiatives and the development of advanced technologies. A memorandum of understanding was also signed, providing for the acceleration of Uzbekistan's digital transformation, the expanded application of innovations in the economy, and the strengthening of the country's potential as a regional hub for digital technologies.
