Tashkent Metro sets historic record: over 1.2 million passengers transported in one day

On September 28, the capital's subway for the first time surpassed the 1.2 million trip mark, breaking the record set a week ago

On September 28, the Tashkent Metro set a new daily record for passenger traffic. In one day, 1,200,124 passengers used the subway's services, the metro's press service reported.

The previous maximum was recorded just a week ago, on September 21, when the metro transported about 1.18 million people. The new figure was approximately 20,000 passengers higher than that result. To celebrate reaching the record mark, metro staff organized a search for the passenger who became the 1,200,000th user of the subway for the day.

It turned out to be a girl who entered the metro at the 'Druzhba Narodov' station. She was presented with a commemorative gift and a transport card entitling her to free travel for a year. The metro noted that the growth in passenger traffic indicates an increase in demand for underground transport from residents and guests of the capital.

At the same time, the absolute daily record among all types of public transport in Tashkent still belongs to buses. On September 15, they transported 1,520,113 passengers, which is 7.8% more than the previous maximum set in February 2025.
