Validators temporarily blocked in Tashkent buses - authorities explain the reason

The measure is applied during fare control and is intended to improve passenger discipline, not to lead to mass fines

In Tashkent, the transport department clarified the reasons for the temporary blocking of validators in city buses. The reason was reports on social networks about the unavailability of devices. Since September 1, bus passengers equipped with an automated payment system are required to pay upon entry, and those entitled to free or discounted travel must confirm their status.

The department clarified that the temporary disabling of validators is used as a tool to control compliance with these requirements. Such a procedure is provided for by the instruction approved by the order of the Minister of Transport dated January 16, 2026, No. 14. Its task is to improve payment discipline and form a habit among passengers to pay for travel immediately upon boarding the bus.

At the same time, the transport department emphasized that blocking devices is primarily aimed at complying with payment rules, and not at bringing passengers to penal liability. The authorities promise to take into account proposals to ensure stable operation of validators, free access to them, and the creation of more convenient conditions for fare payment.
