Uzbekistan's Thermal Power Plants Saved 7 Million Cubic Meters of Gas in Nine Months

Additional effect provided by measures to reduce own energy consumption

From January to September 2026, enterprises of the JSC "Thermal Power Plants" system produced and saved about 28 million kWh of electricity through solar generation and energy-saving measures. The reduction in natural gas consumption amounted to 7 million cubic meters, and prevented CO₂ emissions are estimated at 9–11 thousand tons.

One of the main directions was the installation of solar power plants. The enterprise system operates photovoltaic installations with a total capacity of 15.9 MW. Over nine months, they generated 14.6 million kWh, which saved 3.7 million cubic meters of gas. The released resource can be directed to meet the needs of the population and the economy, especially in anticipation of the heating season.

Additional effect was provided by measures to reduce own energy consumption: 1520 autonomous solar lamps were installed on the territories, 1783 motion sensors were mounted, and electric motors were equipped with 181 frequency control devices. These solutions allowed for an additional saving of 13.2 million kWh of electricity, which is equivalent to 3.3 million cubic meters of natural gas.

The enterprises also use 117 solar water heaters with a capacity of 200 liters each. In the future, the company plans to expand the use of renewable energy and energy-saving technologies to improve resource efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and strengthen the country's energy system sustainability.
