Uzbekistan Aims for 500,000 IT Jobs by 2030

The country plans to train one million young people in digital professions annually

Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed plans for the development of digital education, which should help create an additional 500,000 jobs by 2030. The previous goal — to provide employment in the IT sector for 300,000 people by this deadline — was already achieved in 2026. Now, authorities intend to integrate training, professional skills assessment, and employment assistance into a single system. By the end of the decade, traditional and distance learning programs are planned to cover 5.5 million young people.

For schoolchildren, the projects “Al-Khwarizmi's Heirs” and “Five Million Artificial Intelligence Leaders” will be expanded. The task has also been set to annually train 1 million young people in robotics, game development, startup creation, and other promising areas. To achieve this, it is planned to train national trainers, launch online platforms and short-term courses, update university programs, and improve the qualifications of computer science teachers in the field of AI. Students will have expanded access to international educational courses and practical projects.

Special attention will be paid to training specialists in artificial intelligence, microchip design, unmanned systems, microelectronics, and the Internet of Things. It is planned to create iOS developer training centers based on the Fergana experience, train mentors for private training centers, and support engineering laboratories. To facilitate job searching, the “Digital Youth” platform is planned to be developed, which will combine information on users' education, skills, language proficiency, and certificates, helping to match vacancies and track employment results. Authorities also intend to more actively involve international technology companies in the development of digital education.
