Uzbekistan involves Belarus in discussions on nuclear power plant construction project

The parties are considering transformer production and equipment localization

The Uzatom Agency and the Ministry of Energy of Belarus discussed the participation of Belarusian enterprises in the construction of an integrated nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan. The talks took place on October 27 in Minsk as part of a working visit by an Uzbek delegation. The parties considered opportunities for involving Belarusian specialists, localizing the production of power equipment, and expanding industrial cooperation under Uzbekistan’s national nuclear program.

Minister of Energy of Belarus Denis Moroz named the production of transformer equipment as one of the promising areas. To develop this issue, the Minsk Electrotechnical Plant named after V. I. Kozlov, Uzatom, and the Russian state corporation Rosatom may join forces. In addition, the parties are considering equipment supplies and the establishment of joint manufacturing facilities. Belarus is also providing practical support in selecting qualified personnel for the construction of the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure.
