Uzbekistan plans to increase the share of electric buses in public transport across Tashkent, Nukus, and regional centers from 15% in 2025 to 30% by 2030. According to the strategy targets, the figure should reach 16% as early as 2026, 20% in 2027, 22% in 2028, and 25% in 2029. Thus, the transition to electric transport is intended to be carried out gradually.

To implement the program, authorities intend to determine the required number of electric buses and charging stations, and then prepare a specific procurement plan. This is expected to allow the needs of each city to be assessed in advance and provide the transport with the necessary infrastructure. Meanwhile, master plans for the development of transport and road infrastructure have already been prepared for Tashkent, Nukus, and all regional centers of the country.
The strategy also envisions other changes to the urban transport system. In particular, there are plans to expand the network of dedicated BRT corridors designed for faster public transit movement, as well as to deploy intelligent traffic management systems. It is expected that the combination of these measures will increase transport efficiency and establish the conditions for further development of electric transport.
