Starlink Prepares to Enter the Uzbekistan Market

Elon Musk's Company Agrees with Veon on Direct Connection of Smartphones to Satellites

Starlink has entered into a strategic agreement with the international telecommunications group Veon, paving the way for the launch of high-speed satellite internet in Uzbekistan. The partnership involves integrating the Starlink satellite service into the operator's mobile networks, which will allow smartphones to connect directly to satellites without the use of traditional cellular infrastructure.

The first phase of the project will cover Kazakhstan and Ukraine, after which the technology will be implemented in other Veon countries. These include Uzbekistan, where services are planned to be provided through the Beeline network, as well as Pakistan and Bangladesh. The exact launch dates in Uzbekistan have not yet been disclosed, but the agreement is called a key step towards expanding satellite communications in the region.

Starlink has already officially started providing satellite internet services in Kazakhstan in August 2025, and it was previously expected that entry into the Uzbek market could take place in 2026. The new agreement with Veon effectively confirms these plans and strengthens Starlink's position in Central Asia, where demand for communication outside the coverage areas of mobile networks remains high.
