Electronic prescription system in Uzbekistan will be implemented in stages

The Ministry of Health promises free connection, phased implementation and preservation of paper prescriptions in emergency cases

The Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan has announced the phased implementation of the "Electronic Prescription" system. In the first stage, it will start working in Tashkent and 15 pilot regions. The department emphasizes that the transition will be gradual and as clear as possible for the population, taking into account appeals and suggestions from citizens.

To coordinate the process, the Ministry of Health held working meetings with specialists and specialized organizations, following which an expert council was created. It will weekly review the progress of the system implementation and formulate proposals for further stages. At the start, electronic prescriptions will become mandatory for antibiotics, and subsequent lists of drugs will be approved separately.

The ministry clarified that the connection of medical and pharmaceutical organizations to the system will be free, and the right to issue electronic prescriptions will remain exclusively with doctors. During the transition period, paper prescriptions will be allowed in individual and urgent cases. According to the department, this approach will improve the safety of treatment, streamline the circulation of medicines and make the system more convenient for patients. Consultations are available around the clock at 1003.
