Despite the common name, Chevrolet Cobalts manufactured in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan differ significantly in character and approach to equipment. Kursiv Kazakhstan compared the top versions of the Cobalt Elegant AT of Kazakh production and the Cobalt GX Midnight AT of Uzbek assembly. Both models are equipped with the same 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with 106 hp and a 6-speed automatic transmission, but this is where the similarity largely ends.
The Kazakh Cobalt Elegant AT is focused on practicality and everyday use. It has a restrained design, with an emphasis on functionality and comfort within the budget segment. The basic safety level of both versions is the same — front airbags and ABS, without advanced electronic assistants. At the same time, the Kazakh version is perceived as a utilitarian car without visual frills.
The Uzbek Cobalt GX Midnight AT focuses on appearance and adaptation to local conditions. The model received darkened optics, factory tinting of the rear windows, original alloy wheels, crankcase protection and engine preparation for the installation of gas cylinder equipment. At the end of 2025, Style MCM and Midnight MCM versions with a new B15D2 engine, phase regulators and updated electronics that meet the Euro-5 standard also appeared in Uzbekistan. This engine provides higher torque at low speeds and smoother acceleration, and the flagship version retains an impressive trunk volume of 563 liters.
