The President of Uzbekistan signed a decree on the large-scale development of passenger rail transportation on domestic routes. According to the document, by 2030, the number of passengers transported will increase from 10.5 million to 23.5 million people per year, and routes with electric trains will expand from 40 to 53, which will create a convenient and modern transport system.
Special attention is paid to the launch of high-speed electric trains on key lines. From 2026, modern trains will run on the 465-kilometer route "Tashkent - Urgench - Khiva", and the electrification of the 196-kilometer section "Miskin - Nukus" will be completed by the end of 2026. It is also planned to modernize the strategically important sections "Angren - Pap" and "Toshguzar - Boysun - Kumkurgan", which will allow organizing the movement of high-speed trains in the Fergana Valley and Surkhandarya region.
On the eve of the New Year, additional flights of the high-speed train "Afrosiab" will begin to run on popular routes. Comprehensive measures are aimed at creating a modern, comfortable and fast railway service that can meet the growing needs of passengers throughout the country.
