Uzbekistan has announced ambitious plans to develop digital infrastructure and the IT sector as part of the updated "Uzbekistan-2030" Strategy. By 2030, the bandwidth of the international Internet will reach 5,000 Gbps, and the coverage of fiber-optic and broadband networks will increase from 98.2% to 99.9%. Low-speed tariff plans will increase from 13 Mbps to 20 Mbps, and the annual growth of the telecommunications industry will increase from 9.2% to 15%.
The export of digital services will also receive a strong boost - from $1 billion in 2026 to $5 billion by 2030. The country's IT park will become a key driver: the number of residents will double to 7.5 thousand, the share of their services in GDP will be 1.5%, and the share of exporting companies will increase from 28% to 40%. It is planned to create 100 thousand new jobs, support more than 2 thousand startups, and the emergence of the first national "unicorn" worth $1 billion by 2027.
The strategy also focuses on artificial intelligence and mobile network: training 5 million specialists and achieving 100% coverage of international highways with mobile Internet. Uzbekistan expects to take 50th place in the world index of government readiness to use AI and strengthen the country's position as a leader in the digital economy of the region.
