The Center for Economic Research and Reforms reported on the widespread adoption of energy-efficient solutions in Uzbek homes. The most popular practice has been replacing lighting with LED lighting — 87% of families have already switched to LED lamps, and in Karakalpakstan, Khorezm, Navoi, and Tashkent regions, this share exceeds 90%. In addition, 44% of households have improved the thermal insulation of windows and doors, and 31% have purchased energy-efficient household appliances, especially actively in Jizzakh, Navoi regions, and the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
Interest in renewable energy is growing: more than half of families have expressed their willingness to expand electricity generation using solar panels, the potential market for which covers 1.9 million households worth more than $2.3 billion.
Experts note that the modernization of buildings, including insulation of walls, replacement of doors and windows, as well as updating heating systems, can save more than $60 million per year. A similar potential exists for social institutions, schools, and medical facilities, where investments in energy efficiency can reduce energy consumption by 20–50%, which is equivalent to savings of up to 7.1 billion kWh per year.
