Uzbekistan's High-Speed Trains to Carry Over 3 Million Passengers by 2030

Innovations from South Korea will accelerate railway routes and transform tourism

Uzbekistan's transport sector is entering a new phase: by 2030, passenger traffic on high-speed routes will exceed 3 million people annually, more than doubling compared to the current level. It is planned to transport 1.5 million passengers by the end of 2026.

The main driver of progress is the Hyundai Rotem electric trains from South Korea. Trains with distributed traction under the carriages provide rapid acceleration and more free space for passengers. After March, new trains will run on the Tashkent — Khiva line, which will significantly speed up tourist trips between the capital and ancient cities.

By 2027, five more of these trains will arrive in the country. Innovations in the railway network are designed to make high-speed trains the main mode of transportation for millions of residents and visitors, as well as stimulate the development of the tourism sector.
