The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan has announced a strategic partnership with the UAE company Masdar to expand the country's energy infrastructure. As part of the project, an energy complex with a capacity of 1 GW will be built in the Kashkadarya region, capable of operating in base load mode and providing uninterrupted power supply.
The agreements were reached at the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026 international forum. The delegation of Uzbekistan, headed by Minister of Energy Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov and Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev, discussed sustainable development and the transition to a "green" economy with representatives of the UAE, including Minister of Energy Suhail Muhammad al-Mazroui and Masdar Executive Director Muhammad Jamil al-Ramahi.
The project is being implemented in a trilateral format: JSC "Uzenergosotish", Masdar and Etihad Water & Electricity. It will not only ensure the stability of electricity supplies, but will also become an example of the introduction of modern renewable energy technologies, paving the way for similar initiatives at the international level.
