President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has instructed to accelerate the development of a legislative framework for the International Digital Technology Center Enterprise Uzbekistan. The corresponding task was set on January 20 after the presentation of the results and priorities for the development of the digital sphere for 2026. The authorities expect that the new legal regime will allow attracting foreign IT companies and investments in the country's technology sector more quickly.
Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov said that the president demanded that a separate law be prepared in a short time, creating additional incentives for foreign residents. At the same time, the head of state instructed to finalize legislation in the field of artificial intelligence — to consolidate basic concepts, rules for the use of AI and mechanisms for preventing abuse.
Enterprise Uzbekistan was established in November 2025 and will operate on the basis of IT Park Uzbekistan under a special legal regime based on the norms of England and Wales and the standards of international financial centers. Residents will be able to develop software, video games and AI solutions, provide consulting and remote services, work with data and IT education. The center will be managed by a special council headed by the president, and the center itself should provide foreign investors with protection of rights, access to venture capital and access to international markets.
