Uzbekistan Airways has announced the largest deal in its history — the delivery of 22 wide-body Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. The aircraft will be delivered in batches of three to four units per year, with the fleet upgrade scheduled for completion within four years. Initially, the discussion was about eight aircraft, then the contract was expanded to 22 after agreeing on technical requirements and service conditions.
According to the head of the airline, Shukhrat Khudaykulov, the upgrade of the long-haul fleet became a necessity against the backdrop of an expanding network of international routes. The existing aircraft continue to be operated, but the new aircraft will accelerate the fleet upgrade and improve the comfort and efficiency of flights. The contract, according to US President Donald Trump, is estimated at more than 8 billion dollars, while the airline emphasizes its financial stability.
Special attention is paid to personnel training: the first Boeing 787 simulator in the country will appear at the Uzbekistan Airways training center. This will allow training pilots domestically, practicing emergency situations, and significantly improving flight safety. Previously, there were no training simulators for the 787 in the post-Soviet space; the closest analogue is in Turkey.
In addition, Uzbekistan Airways presented an updated uniform for flight attendants.
