Uzbekistan and Pakistan signed a memorandum on the development of infrastructure and "smart cities"

Investments and technology will become the foundation of long-term cooperation

On January 27, Uzbekistan's Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov met with Malik Muhammad Aslam, Chief Executive Officer of the Pakistani company Habib Rafiq Ltd. During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for expanding investment cooperation in the areas of infrastructure construction, development of "smart cities," mining, and processing industries. Special attention was paid to copper beneficiation, extraction of strategic minerals, and the introduction of advanced engineering solutions.

Following the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed, establishing the framework conditions for cooperation on the implementation of smart city projects, the development of modern infrastructure, and the attraction of investment into Uzbekistan's economy. The document confirms the readiness of both sides to launch long-term joint projects and deepen practical cooperation.

Habib Rafiq Ltd is one of Pakistan's largest engineering and construction companies with a history spanning more than 70 years. The company is implementing the Capital Smart City and Lahore Smart City projects, participating in the construction of Islamabad International Airport, developing green energy, and, together with the Chinese corporation Geely, manufacturing electric vehicles and introducing innovative technologies.
