Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan strengthen cooperation in nuclear energy

The parties discussed the development of peaceful uses of nuclear energy

A working meeting of delegations from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan took place at the II International Nuclear Energy Summit in Paris. The discussion was attended by the Director of the Atomic Energy Agency of Uzbekistan, Azim Akhmedkhadjaev, and the Chairman of the Atomic Energy Agency of Kazakhstan, Almasadam Satkaliev.

The parties discussed the development of peaceful uses of nuclear energy, ensuring radiation safety, exchange of experience and training. In addition, it is planned to create a joint working group to coordinate projects for the construction of nuclear power plants in both countries.

Particular attention was paid to the role of nuclear energy in achieving climate goals and ensuring the energy security of the region. Following the meeting, a visit by the Kazakh delegation to Uzbekistan was agreed to discuss joint projects and initiatives in detail.
