Direct flights between Muscat and Tashkent will open on June 1, announced the Minister of Heritage and Tourism of Oman, Sayyid Ibrahim al-Busaidi. The launch of flights is aimed at developing tourism, strengthening ties between tour operators, and increasing the flow of travelers between the countries.
Oman Air, which received permission for the routes in April 2025, will use Boeing 737 aircraft. The aviation authorities of the two countries signed an agreement to operate up to 50 flights per week and agreed to introduce an "open skies" regime for the airports of Samarkand and Salalah, as well as to increase opportunities for cargo transportation.
The visa-free regime has become an additional incentive: since July 2024, citizens of Uzbekistan can stay in Oman for up to 14 days without a visa, and for citizens of Oman, the period of stay in Uzbekistan has been extended to 30 days. These measures should significantly increase tourism and economic exchange between the countries.
