Samarkand Automobile Plant SamAuto has presented a five-year development strategy that envisages a significant expansion of the business: sales are planned to increase 2.5 times by 2030.
The main growth drivers are the electrification of commercial transport, deep localization of production, and entry into international markets under the leadership of the new majority shareholder, Turkish Anadolu Isuzu.
The top management of Anadolu Isuzu emphasized that the company's goal is to turn SamAuto into a production and export center for Central Asia and, in the future, for Africa, choosing Uzbekistan for this purpose. Expanding its presence in foreign markets is seen as a key element of the growth strategy.
The plant's history spans more than 25 years: since its opening in 1999 under the "SamAuto" brand and partnership with Koo Holding, the company has increased its model range from 5–6 to almost 150 items. Today, SamAuto produces buses, truck chassis, vans, pickups, and special equipment, and about 60,000 of its vehicles are operated on the roads of Uzbekistan — every fifth commercial vehicle in the country is produced at the plant.
