The 5th meeting of the heads of space agencies of the member and observer countries of the Organization of Turkic States took place in Tashkent as part of the Space Technology Conference – 2026. The main goal of the meeting was to deepen multilateral cooperation in the field of space technologies and discuss joint projects, including the launch of a technological satellite and the exchange of scientific and technical experience.
Participants discussed a wide range of applications of space data: remote sensing of the Earth, navigation, monitoring of agriculture and water management, environmental research, and early detection of emergency situations. Special attention was paid to the involvement of the private sector, the training of young specialists, and the development of analytical platforms based on geoinformation systems and big data.
In recent years, the OTS countries have demonstrated remarkable achievements: Turkey and Kazakhstan have launched remote sensing satellites, Azerbaijan is developing international telecommunications, and Uzbekistan is using space monitoring for the management of land and water resources, ecology, geology, and agriculture. A new stage of cooperation will allow combining the potential of regional agencies and strengthening the position of the Turkic countries in the global space market.
