Electric vehicle imports to Uzbekistan increased 7 times in the first quarter

The main driver of growth was fully electric vehicles

In the first quarter of 2026, the structure of passenger car imports to Uzbekistan underwent significant changes. The total value of imported cars reached $369.8 million, compared to $115.3 million a year earlier — an increase of more than three times, according to the State Customs Committee of the country.

The main driver of growth was fully electric vehicles. If in January–March 2025, 2,664 electric vehicles worth $31.3 million were imported into the country, then in the first three months of 2026 this figure increased to 16,363 units worth $230.8 million. The share of electric vehicles in the total volume of passenger car imports exceeded 62%.

The hybrid car segment showed even more impressive growth: in the three months of 2026, 1,856 cars worth $59.3 million were imported to Uzbekistan, compared to 95 units worth $2.9 million a year earlier. Imports of gasoline cars remained almost at the same level, and imports of diesel cars, although remaining minimal, increased 8 times in quantity and 33 times in value.
