On April 16, as part of the spring meetings of the IMF and the World Bank, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov held talks with Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama. The parties discussed the expansion of financial and economic cooperation, support for economic reforms and ensuring sustainable growth of the country.
Special attention was paid to the introduction of Japanese experience in public finance management: digitalization of budget processes, strengthening control over expenditures, automation of payment systems, improvement of the treasury and liquidity forecasting. Joint projects in high-tech industries - microelectronics, semiconductor industry and innovative developments - were also considered.
The parties emphasized the importance of developing a "green" economy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy, transport and agriculture. Following the meeting, mutual readiness to further strengthen bilateral economic ties was confirmed.
