Uzbekistan has approved a large-scale program to improve energy efficiency. The corresponding decree was signed by Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The document introduces new requirements for construction, infrastructure modernization, and energy consumption management, as well as providing for the digitalization of the industry and reduction of losses in the economy.
From July 1, all new government buildings must comply with an energy efficiency class of at least C – this rule also applies to reconstruction. At the same time, the authorities explicitly prohibited achieving savings by disconnecting consumers. Instead, the focus is on introducing modern technologies, including data analysis systems, AI, and digital control platforms.
The National Energy Efficiency Agency of Uzbekistan will play a key role, ensuring guaranteed payments under energy service contracts to attract private investment. Simultaneously, educational programs, a consumer rating system, and a national energy saving movement are being launched – all of which should reduce energy costs and prepare the economy for growing demand for resources.
