Gas production in Uzbekistan dropped by 15%: hydrocarbons are in the red, but oil refining is growing

Quarterly statistics showed a decrease in production and a sharp increase in diesel fuel output

In Uzbekistan, a significant decrease in natural gas production was recorded in the first quarter of 2026. According to statistics, the volume amounted to 9.6 billion cubic meters against 11.3 billion a year earlier, which corresponds to a 15% drop.

The decline also affected other segments of the fuel and energy complex. Oil production decreased by 2.2%, gas condensate by 18.3%, and coal production by 8.3%. In general, the industry showed negative dynamics for key raw material positions.

At the same time, petroleum product refining showed growth. Gasoline production increased by 2.9%, and diesel fuel production sharply rose by more than 54%. Such multidirectional dynamics indicate a shift in focus towards refining while raw material extraction decreases.
