The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has officially confirmed: the Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP) system will be operational in Uzbekistan by the end of 2026. This was announced by IATA Regional Vice President for Europe, Rafael Schvartzman, who called the Uzbek market one of the most dynamic in Central Asia. The system will simplify ticket sales, reporting, and financial settlements between airlines and agents. Currently, BSP is used by approximately 400 carriers in 181 countries, and the total volume of transactions through it and the CASS cargo system in 2024 exceeded 277 billion dollars.
Connecting to BSP will allow Uzbek airlines to significantly reduce costs for international settlements and enter global markets more quickly. Foreign carriers are already directly asking about the system's availability when exploring the Uzbek market – some have postponed launching flights precisely until its appearance. In addition, IATA plans to open a representative office in the country to help implement global safety and efficiency standards. The aviation industry currently accounts for 0.9% of Uzbekistan's GDP and provides over 128,000 jobs.
A striking example of efficiency is the national carrier "Uzbekiston Havo Yollari". After implementing a similar system, the company saved 8 million dollars on agent commissions alone, reducing them from 10–12% to minimal values. Now there is no need to conclude separate agreements with each agent – access to the entire BSP network appears automatically. Experts are confident that the launch of the system will significantly increase Uzbekistan's attractiveness for global airlines and give a powerful impetus to the development of the industry.
