The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan has submitted a draft for discussion, according to which from May 1, 2026, to December 31, 2030, the state will compensate for part of the cost of electricity at charging stations. If the tariff exceeds 300 soums per kWh, the difference will be covered from the budget. With the current tariff of about 1000 soums, the subsidy will be 700 soums for each kilowatt. In 2026, about 164 billion soums are planned to be allocated for these purposes (for 8 months), and by 2030, expenses could grow to 819 billion soums per year.
Subsidies will be paid monthly through the Soliq mobile application directly to citizens' bank cards and will not be subject to taxes. The initiative is designed to sharply accelerate the development of the charging station network and stimulate the transition to electric transport, making it significantly more profitable for the population.
It is expected that the mechanism will significantly reduce the cost of owning an electric vehicle, help develop charging infrastructure throughout the country, and accelerate Uzbekistan's transition to more environmentally friendly transport.
