The construction of the first power unit of an integrated nuclear power plant has begun in Uzbekistan. The solemn ceremony took place in the format of a teleconference between the NPP construction site and St. Petersburg, where the Presidents of Russia and Uzbekistan, Vladimir Putin and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, signed the construction permit. The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, addressed the event participants with a welcoming speech.

The pouring of the "first concrete" officially marked the object's status as a nuclear power plant under construction according to IAEA standards. As part of the priority works on the site, 133 cubic meters of concrete mix will be poured, and the total volume of concrete works will be 10 thousand cubic meters.

The start of construction marks an important step for the country's energy sector. The NPP will be Uzbekistan's first nuclear power plant and will increase electricity generation, ensuring long-term energy stability and infrastructure development.
