Uzbekistan's Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, held talks with representatives of the European Commission, including Charlotte Adriaen, Head of the Central Asia and Afghanistan Unit, and a delegation from the European Union. The main topic was digital transformation and the development of telecommunications in the country, especially in remote and underserved regions.
Separately, a project within the European Union's Global Gateway initiative was discussed, aimed at expanding modern communication services in hard-to-reach areas of Central Asia. The discussion focused on improving implementation mechanisms, coordinating technical and financial aspects, and accelerating the introduction of digital solutions into communication infrastructure.
The parties also touched upon the development of satellite technologies, strengthening digital integration between the European Union and Uzbekistan, and modernizing data transmission networks. The negotiations focused on creating a more resilient and connected digital ecosystem capable of providing stable communication even in remote regions.
