In Uzbekistan, the volume of rail transportation for January–March 2026 amounted to 28 million tons, which is 4.3% higher than the figure for the same period last year. This is reported by the data of the National Statistics Committee, recording a steady expansion of transport and industrial activity.
The growth in freight turnover is associated with the strengthening of foreign trade flows and an increase in the load on logistics infrastructure. Rail transport continues to be a key element in the transportation of raw materials, fuel, and industrial products in the country.
The largest volumes accounted for raw materials and basic cargo categories. The transportation of ores amounted to 3.9 million tons, oil products – 3.4 million tons, grain and its processed products – 3.3 million tons. Coal (2.7 million tons) and ferrous metals (1.8 million tons) also accounted for a significant share.
Construction and industrial materials also provided a significant part of the cargo traffic. The volume of transportation of construction goods reached 1.5 million tons, chemical products and fertilizers – about 789 thousand tons, cement – 710.9 thousand tons.
Other categories, including timber and agricultural products, as well as other items, collectively formed 8.9 million tons of transportation. In general, the structure of cargo traffic reflects the dominant role of the industrial and agricultural sectors in shaping the demand for rail logistics.
