The Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Protection of Uzbekistan recognized VFS Global Services UBKN and Vizametric as dominant in certain segments of the visa services market. The decision was made in accordance with the Law "On Competition".
VFS Global Services UBKN received dominant operator status for processing visas for travel to Austria, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Great Britain, Switzerland, New Zealand, Israel, and Malta.
Vizametric was recognized as dominant in the market for US visa processing services. In addition, the committee found that TLS Contact has superior bargaining power in processing visas to Germany and France.
The agency explained that companies with such status are not entitled to abuse their position if it leads to restricting competition or violating the rights of consumers and other market participants.
The decision was made some time after complaints from users and bloggers about difficulties in booking appointments for submitting documents for French visas through TLS Contact. After this, a new system for booking appointments for short-term French visas was introduced in the country.
