Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are elevating environmental cooperation to a new level, strengthening their joint fight against atmospheric pollution. Following a meeting of representatives from relevant agencies, an agreement was reached to establish a joint working group that will develop scientifically sound measures to improve air quality, primarily in border areas.
The negotiations took place at Green University, where the parties discussed the development of environmental monitoring systems, the exchange of scientific information, and the implementation of joint environmental protection projects. Representatives from environmental agencies, hydrometeorological services, and scientific organizations from both countries participated in the work.
This new initiative is a continuation of agreements reached in April 2026 during the meeting of the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. At that time, one of the key areas of cooperation was identified as the joint project "Clean Air," aimed at addressing the problem of transboundary atmospheric pollution and developing regional environmental initiatives.
