Uzbekistan and the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) have signed a preliminary agreement to host the International Astronautical Congress IAC-2028 in Samarkand. The document was concluded within the framework of the 77th congress, currently taking place in Antalya, and formalizes the agreement to hold the next event in Uzbekistan.

The ceremony was attended by IAF President Gabriella Arrigo, Uzbekistan's Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov, Uzcosmos Director Shukhrat Kadyrov, and Aziz Muhiddinov, Director of the NGO "Artificial Intelligence Alliance". The signing of the document marked a practical step in Samarkand's preparation to host the international space forum.

Moving forward, Uzbekistan and the IAF will focus on creating the necessary conditions for congress participants, preparing the infrastructure, and developing the event program. Thus, Samarkand is transitioning from an agreement to host IAC-2028 to direct organizational preparation for the largest international event in the space industry.
