The Braille Recognition project, created by Fergana region developer Muhammadkodir Abduvoitov, won the international ASOCIO Digital & AI Awards 2026 in the “AI for Public Good” category. The startup founder received the award at a ceremony in the Indonesian capital.

The event took place from October 5 to 7 and brought together specialists in digital technologies and artificial intelligence from countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The project from Uzbekistan was recognized for its use of AI to solve social problems.

Braille Recognition is a mobile application that uses a smartphone camera to recognize Braille characters and convert them into regular text. This technology can be useful for people with visual impairments, their relatives, and in educational institutions.

The ASOCIO Digital & AI Awards are presented by the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO), which unites representatives of the region's technology sector. The victory of the Uzbek startup highlighted the potential of using artificial intelligence to increase information accessibility and develop inclusive digital solutions.
