Rosatom has launched the creation of reactor equipment for the first SMR unit in Uzbekistan. This was reported by the press service of the state corporation.
An ingot of alloyed steel weighing 205 tons has already been cast at the AEM-Spetsstal metallurgical plant.
From it, machine builders will later manufacture the flange of the RITM-200N reactor plant vessel for a small nuclear power plant (SMR) being built in Uzbekistan according to a Russian project. Then the metallurgical blank will be transferred to other enterprises of the division for assembling the reactor vessel into a single unit.
Rosatom plans to build the first small nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan. The scheme of the new project has already been approved. Permission to build the station will be obtained in early 2026.
The enterprises of the machine-building division have the necessary capacities and experience in the manufacture of RITM series reactor plants, which have been operated in the icebreaker fleet for several years. Our knowledge and competencies will be applied in the manufacture of all six RITM-200N reactor plants for the SMR in Uzbekistan.
