Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov met with New York City Mayor Eric Adams in New York. The negotiations covered the development of the digital economy, remote employment, data centers, personnel training and outsourcing services.
At the beginning of the meeting, a presentation of IT Park was made, which revealed in detail Uzbekistan's initiatives to form a modern digital ecosystem. Shermatov spoke about the current reforms, the results achieved and plans for further development of the industry. During the visit, the activities of UZSOC and the Unified Integrator UZINFOCOM were also presented.
The parties discussed the investment climate for new businesses, existing tax incentives and strategic tasks to improve the quality of IT education. It was separately noted that the annual population growth of more than one million people increases the need for qualified specialists.
Particular attention was paid to the consequences of the global pandemic, which accelerated the spread of remote employment and process automation. According to the meeting participants, this opens up additional economic opportunities for Uzbekistan. During the discussion, it was emphasized that the residents of the country's knowledge of English, Russian, Arabic, German, Korean and Japanese creates competitive advantages for international cooperation and the development of global services.
The negotiations considered the prospects for cooperation in the field of IT services, data centers, logistics systems, remote services and mobile platforms. Information was presented on the construction of large data centers and the expansion of interaction with foreign companies for data exchange.
The parties agreed on the joint development of a startup ecosystem, the creation of more comfortable conditions for investors and the strengthening of Uzbekistan's role as an international innovation center. It was noted that the country's multinational cultural environment contributes to the development of creative and technological solutions.
Following the meeting, Sherzod Shermatov and Eric Adams expressed their readiness to test projects, implement new technological solutions and expand bilateral cooperation.
