Uzbekistan has presented the Samarkand-2028 space project — an Earth remote sensing satellite that will be equipped with an artificial intelligence module for the first time. The initiative was presented at a meeting with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, where the expansion of AI application in key sectors of the economy was discussed.
The satellite will receive a specialized AI module for automatic processing of images and observation data. It is planned that the algorithms will assess the quality of atmospheric air, monitor the condition of agricultural land, forests and promptly identify changes in the country's ecosystems. This should significantly speed up decision-making in the environmental and agricultural sectors.
In addition to the space project, AI is being introduced in other areas as well. In education, a platform with a virtual assistant for teachers is being prepared, as well as a training program for digitalization advisors. In transport, AI technologies will record traffic violations and prevent railway accidents by monitoring the condition of wagons. The President instructed to accelerate the implementation of all initiatives, emphasizing their strategic importance for the socio-economic development of the country.
