Uzbekistan will open an office in Silicon Valley to promote national developments in the field of artificial intelligence at the global level. This was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the international AI forum in Tashkent. The new office will become a point of direct interaction between Uzbek startups and specialists with leading technology companies, investors and accelerators in the United States.
According to the head of state, the country's strategic goal is to move from the role of technology consumer to the status of their creator and exporter. The authorities expect that the introduction of AI will bring the economy of Uzbekistan up to $10 billion of additional value in the next 5 years. By 2030, it is planned to increase the export of IT services to $5 billion, while creating thousands of high-paying jobs.
The development of the industry will be supported by the launch of a supercomputer cluster jointly with Nvidia, the introduction of AI education in schools and "Kelajak" centers, as well as the Presidential Competition on Artificial Intelligence. As part of the program, 100 promising specialists will be sent annually for internships in companies in the USA, UAE and Europe, and the total amount of funding for the AI strategy will be $100 million.
