In Uzbekistan, on December 10, 2025, the system of prescribing medicines by electronic prescription began operating in Tashkent and 15 pilot districts. It was implemented on the basis of a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers and has already covered all 152 state medical institutions in the capital and almost 1,500 pharmacies, as well as a significant part of private clinics. In the pilot regions, all state institutions and more than 60% of private medical organizations are connected to the system.
According to the Ministry of Health, 98.9% of prescription drugs are currently prescribed electronically. The exception is medicines with narcotic and psychotropic substances - a special paper form has been retained for them. Patients who have contacted a private clinic that is not connected to the system can obtain an electronic prescription from a family or local doctor, as well as through the ambulance service.
The department emphasizes that over-the-counter drugs are still freely sold in pharmacies - these are antipyretics, cold remedies, antihistamines, children's syrups and ointments. For patients with chronic diseases, provision is made for providing medicines for 60 or 90 days, including free of charge under the reimbursement program.
A Telegram bot has been launched for feedback on the operation of the system, and more than 17,000 pharmacy employees have already undergone special training.
