President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the "Yunusobod Gallery" trade and business center in the Yunusabad district of Tashkent. The complex, spanning 2.5 hectares, combines over 53,000 sq. m of retail and commercial spaces, hosting foreign brands attracted by foreign investments totaling $14 million. The center has opened over 100 stores, created approximately 500 jobs, and estimates an annual visitor flow of 2.5 million people.
The head of state also visited a bookstore located on the complex's territory, where he discussed with representatives of publishing houses and youth the development of book trade and the promotion of reading. Special attention was paid to expanding the publication of scientific and fiction literature, supporting national publishing houses, and fostering an interest in books from an early age. During his interaction with residents of the capital, the President emphasized the role of mahallas as the foundation of public unity and the well-being of citizens.
As part of the visit, Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with the work of the IT company Unicon-Soft, which since 2017 has implemented over 70 information systems across the country and employs over 1,500 people, most of whom are young specialists. The President was presented with projects for the digitalization of government bodies, the customs sphere, and the development of the "Digital Mahalla" platform. In addition, he inspected the renovated Rikhsiliy Street, where, after infrastructure modernization and landscaping, 650 jobs were created, pedestrian zones were established, and security measures were strengthened.
