The first stage of the green hydrogen production project initiated by the Saudi company ACWA Power has been completed in Chirchik (Tashkent region). The project cost is 88 million dollars, and 40 new jobs have been created. The first stage involves the production of 3,000 tons of green hydrogen per year and has already been implemented in 2025.
The construction of the pilot facility started in November 2023 on the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The project is designed in two stages: the first is the launch of hydrogen production, the second is the organization of production of up to 500 thousand tons of ammonia per year based on it.
The second stage also includes the construction of a wind farm with an installed capacity of up to 2.4 GW. This will be an important step towards the development of sustainable energy and a "green economy" in Uzbekistan, providing countries with modern environmentally friendly technologies and increasing export potential.
