Uzbekistan Enters Top of World's Cheapest Countries to Live In

Cost of living and rent index makes the republic one of the budget destinations

According to the ranking of the international analytical platform Numbeo, Uzbekistan ranked 138th among 155 countries in terms of living expenses. The cost of living index in the republic is 27.3 points — one of the lowest in the world. For comparison, New York is taken as 100 points, and the lower the indicator, the cheaper housing, services and daily expenses are.

Low prices are noticeable in almost all categories: rent (index 12.2), total expenses including rent (20.6), food (30.1) and restaurants (23). At the same time, the purchasing power index of the population is 47.8, which reflects how much the income of citizens covers daily expenses.

The situation is similar in Central Asia: Kazakhstan took 128th place, Tajikistan — 136th, Kyrgyzstan — 140th. The cheapness of life makes the region attractive for tourists and those looking for budget destinations to live in.
