The appeal overturned the verdict in the high-profile traffic accident involving Li 9 and BYD electric vehicles that occurred on September 30, 2025, in Tashkent's Mirzo-Ulugbek District. Initially, the court ordered the BYD driver to pay 798 million soums in compensation for the Li 9's material damage; however, the highest instance overturned the decision and sent the case back for further investigation, keeping the public in suspense.
According to the case materials, the collision occurred when the BYD driver changed direction from the right lane to the left. The Li 9 was traveling at high speed and crashed into the BYD, after which it overturned. Cameras recorded that the BYD was traveling at 60–62 km/h, while the automotive technical examination was unable to determine the Li 9's exact speed at the moment of impact. Experts noted that at the indicated distance, preventing the accident was practically impossible.
Initially, the court imposed a fine of 2 million 60 thousand soums on the BYD driver and ordered compensation for the Li 9's damage, while the Li 9 driver received a fine of 206 thousand soums for the absence of an insurance policy. Now the situation is returning for a new review, and the results of the further investigation may completely change the parties' legal liability.
