In the first 2 months of 2026, Uzbekistan sharply increased car imports. According to the country's Customs Committee, the total value of imported vehicles reached $260.2 million, compared to $79.8 million a year earlier. Thus, the indicator increased by approximately 3.3 times.
The main contribution was made by passenger cars: their imports increased from $76 million to $256.2 million, which corresponds to an increase of 236%. Electric vehicles showed the most impressive dynamics. If in January–February 2025, 1,556 such cars were imported into the country for $17.99 million, then in 2026 — already 9,698 units with a total value of $158.7 million.
Imports of gasoline cars increased slightly: 2,988 cars for $55.95 million against 2,746 cars for $55.88 million a year earlier. Hybrids showed a sharp jump — from 70 to 1,249 cars, and their cost increased from $2.16 million to $41.2 million. Also, for the first time in a long time, diesel passenger cars were imported — 5 cars for $343.8 thousand. Imports of other types of transport increased by 6.7%, to $4.07 million.
