Tashkent Introduces Strict Rules for the City's Appearance

City Design Code Approved

The Tashkent Kengash of People's Deputies has approved the city's design code, which will come into effect in mid-May. The document establishes uniform standards for the planning of public spaces, building design, placement of advertising and navigation elements, as well as street and green area improvements.

District khokimiyats must develop schemes for the boundaries of public spaces within two months, and the architectural and urban planning council will monitor compliance with the rules during the construction, repair, and reconstruction of facilities, including seasonal retail outlets. Within four months, it is planned to update address signs and navigation in accordance with the new standard.

The design code will be mandatory for all organizations, legal entities, and individuals when changing the appearance of buildings, modernizing engineering networks, organizing trade and service facilities, landscaping, and improvement. Its integration into urban planning norms will ensure a unified visual appearance of the capital and improve the quality of urban infrastructure.
