In Tashkent, law enforcement agencies have warned about a new Internet fraud scheme that uses videos created with artificial intelligence technologies. According to the Tashkent Department of Internal Affairs, videos stylized as news stories from the Uzbekistan-24 TV channel are being distributed on social networks. The video looks convincing and supposedly contains information from the police, but in reality it is completely fake.
According to the department, attackers use such videos to direct users to third-party sites and obtain their personal data. The police emphasized that the website of the so-called international cyber police distributed on the network is not related to law enforcement agencies. Citizens are strongly advised not to follow suspicious links and not to enter personal data or codes from SMS.
Law enforcement officials note that in recent months, criminals have been increasingly using the capabilities of artificial intelligence to create fake materials. Uzbekistan is urged to check sources of information and focus only on the official pages of state structures in order not to become a victim of digital fraudsters.
