In Uzbekistan, licenses for lotteries, online games with elements of risk, and the operation of bookmaker companies have still not been issued. This was announced by the head of the department for the development of the crypto-asset sphere of the NAPM, Askarzhon Zakirov. According to him, applications from companies are being received, but there are no official permits yet. The reason is measures to prevent unfair activities and protect socially vulnerable citizens from gambling.
To control the industry, a Unified State Register of Bets and Players is being created, which is in the final stage of preparation for launch. Companies are showing interest in licensing, but they need time to prepare documents and comply with all the requirements of the regulator.
The legalization of gambling and bookmaking was formalized by a decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in April 2024. Licenses are issued by the NAPM for a period of up to five years, the cost of registration is 500 BRV (206 million soums). The regulator has set restrictions on the participation of certain categories of citizens and provided for fines for legal entities for violating the rules of the games.
