NPP Will Cover Up to 15% of Needs: Uzbekistan Bets on Nuclear Energy

Rosatom's project should become a key response to the growth of the economy and population

Rosatom expects that the nuclear power plant being built in Uzbekistan, once it reaches full capacity, will be able to provide up to 15% of the country's total energy consumption. This was announced by the head of the state corporation, Alexey Likhachev, emphasizing the strategic importance of the project.

According to him, the development of nuclear generation will become an important element in strengthening the republic's energy system. Against the backdrop of population growth and a steady increase in GDP, the need for reliable energy sources continues to increase, and the NPP should partially cover this demand.

Thus, the project is seen as a long-term solution to the country's energy challenges, capable of increasing the stability of the system and reducing dependence on other sources of generation.
